CPC50320 Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) qualification develops the knowledge and skills for senior management roles in the building and construction industry. Graduates may pursue careers as Project Managers, Construction Managers, Estimating Managers, or Sales Managers.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

This course is delivered over a period of 52 weeks. The course duration breakdown is below:

  • 40 Weeks of scheduled study/tuition (4 terms of 10 weeks each)
  • 12 Weeks of scheduled breaks/holidays (4 breaks of 3 weeks)

Notes

  • A minimum of 20 contact hours per week of study/tuition have been scheduled by the Australian College of Management and Innovation - to ensure students meet their student study Visa conditions.
  • The course duration may vary for students who have been granted Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) towards this course (e.g., students having completed any units in a previous course)
  • There is no work placement requirement for this course.

This course is delivered face to face and is classroom‐based. All units are delivered and assessed using a combination of the following instructor‐led methods; face to face in a classroom, in a simulated business environment and accessing learning and assessment resources via an approved E-Learning platform.

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Diploma level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

English Language Requirement (International Students): IELTS Academic 6.0 Or PTE Academic Test Score of minimum 50 in each component or others equivalent (e.g., TOEFL, ISLPR, CSWE, General English, EAP) English language test scores.
Academic Level Year 12 or equivalent high school certificate..
Minimum Age 18 years or over at the time of commencement.

Note: Students who do not meet the minimum English requirement for this course will need to package this course with an appropriate English Course before they can proceed into this course/qualification.

Each unit is assessed using a structured combination of resources and tools designed to measure both theoretical knowledge and practical application. Assessment methods may include:

  • Written tasks and knowledge questions to evaluate theoretical understanding.
  • Case studies and projects that reflect real workplace scenarios.
  • Practical demonstrations and role plays conducted in simulated or workplace environments.
  • Reports, presentations, and portfolios to showcase applied skills and professional outcomes.

For all students, LLND is a key foundation skill that supports vocational learning, employability, and workplace communication. To assist learners, the Australian College of Management and Innovation provides a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) policy and support services to guide students in developing these essential skills.

Australian College of Management and Innovation provides Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) opportunities to all students. Learners may apply for RPL/CT prior to or immediately after formal enrolment, but before the facilitated delivery of units, to ensure they do not miss any class or workshop opportunities offered should they be unsuccessful in the RPL process.

Graduates may progress to the Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) or pursue Bachelor-level studies in construction management, project management, or related fields (subject to entry requirements).

Graduates may work as construction managers, project managers, site supervisors, estimators, or in other senior roles within the building and construction industry.

Students are required to have access to a laptop or desktop computer, internet connection, and standard software (e.g., Microsoft Office). Learning materials are provided by the college, and additional resources may be recommended by trainers as needed.

A culturally sensitive and age-appropriate orientation session is provided to all new students enrolling with ACMi, these are conducted in support of assisting students (and their families) to adjust to living in Australia, commencing their study and achieving the academic progress as outlined in their Training Plans. All information is to be provided without cost to the student. Our orientation program is accessible to all overseas students and allows for late arrivals and students who begin at different entry points.

Information provided at our orientation sessions is also available to prospective and current students via our International Student Handbooks and on our ACMi website (at www.acmi.wa.edu.au). Our orientation sessions include information for international students studying in Australia and will include:

  • Support services available to assist in the transition into life and study in Australia
  • Legal services
  • Information on visa conditions relating to course progress and, if applicable, attendance
  • Emergency and health services i.e., police, hospitals, fire, ambulance
  • English language and study assistance programs
  • Personal and crisis support services available and how to access them
